KRISTA JOHNSTON - OWNER   Krista Johnston is the owner at The Research House Clearance Services Inc. She developed a diverse understanding of clearances throughout her 15 years of experience in entertainment law in Vancouver, British Columbia. Additionally, Krista has served in the business and legal affairs departments of television and film production companies, as a producer of short films and as a production coordinator on feature films. She is past Vice President of Women in Film and Television Vancouver and often instructs film students on the importance of understanding the clearance process at schools such as BCIT, Vancouver Film School, the Art Institute of BC and School Creative. Identifying a need for clearance services on the west coast, Krista founded The Research House in 2002 and has worked on 500+ Feature Films, MOW's, short films, television series' and new media productions. JEFF YOUNG - ENTERTAINMENT & ARTS LAWYER   Jeff received his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of British Columbia, where he also studied Commerce, before beginning his 18-year legal career, which started in corporate and real estate law, and ultimately focused on intellectual property and entertainment, particularly in film/TV and music. During his successful legal career, Jeff has negotiated with major labels and corporations including Qwest Records (Quincy Jones), Virgin Records, BMG, Disney, Sony and Warner/Chappell. He has acted for a Grammy winning artist, and was a managing partner of an entertainment law boutique that represented international, local, and independent film and TV clients including Fox Family Channel, the OutTV Network, The Vancouver Whitecaps, Shavick Entertainment and the Shaw Rocket Fund. AMBER WOODWARD - SCRIPT READER, REPORT WRITER AND RESEARCHER   Amber has worked in the film industry in a variety of capacities for over 20 years prior to joining the team at The Research House. She first started her career in the entertainment business in casting and talent agencies, and eventually moved into the world of production. She has over 10 years of experience working as a clearance coordinator on productions such Smallville, The Dead Zone, Eureka, and Rogue, where she facilitated clearances, permissions, product placement, and product integration deals. In addition to her work as a clearance coordinator, Amber has also worked as an associate producer and as a publicist. When not working on film and television projects, she has worked as a project manager for web and a 2D graphic designer. Amber has an undergraduate degree in Communications with a minor in Publishing from Simon Fraser University and has taken a variety of other continuing education courses in everything from graphic design to copy editing. She is a member of the Director’s Guild of Canada, IATSE 669, and the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. Contact Amber at amber at researchhouse dot ca

LANDA DEPNER - SENIOR RESEARCHER, DESIGN AND IMAGE CLEARANCES   Landa came to The Research House in 2012 with a diverse background, most notably having worked for years as a private investigator. Her investigative research skills are incredible. She can find anything and anyone!

JACLYN MACRAE - RESEARCHER   Jaclyn has had a passion for production since a very early age. Captivated by television (even news!), films and stage productions as a child, she pursued a career in journalism and is a Broadcast Journalist and E-Journalist/Web designer by trade and training. She has since been working in the film and television industry for almost 20 years. After 9 years in news and live-to-air TV production, Jaclyn joined her first TV series production as a Script and Clearance Coordinator and was introduced to the world of Clearances, and Permissions. Jaclyn has had a passion for production since a very early age. Captivated by television (even news!), films and stage productions as a child, she pursued a career in journalism and is a Broadcast Journalist and E-Journalist/Web designer by trade and training. She has since been working in the film and television industry for almost 20 years. After 9 years in news and live-to-air TV production, Jaclyn joined her first TV series production as a Script and Clearance Coordinator and was introduced to the world of Clearances, and Permissions. Following that series, and after doing some Motion Pictures Pre & Post-visualization Co-ordination, and Production Management on two different animated properties, Jaclyn came back to the world of clearances, and joined The Research House as a Researcher in 2015.

ERIN O’BRIEN - RESEARCHER   Erin came to the Research House in 2016 after finishing the Writing for Film and Television program at the Vancouver Film School. While she doesn’t have much experience in the film industry she more than makes up for it with her abilities as a researcher. Prior to attending film school Erin earned a BA from the University of Victoria in History, Anthropology and English Literature – so she’s no stranger to spending hours in front of a computer searching for elusive yet crucial details, in fact she lives for it. She is really excited to be at the Research House where she can combine her love of film and television with her passion for research.

Apart from her undergraduate degree in Communications and Fine and Performing Arts from Simon Fraser University, her curiosity, and passion for learning have helped her acquire skills in acting, story boarding, stop motion animation and even set production. At the Research House, Debra enjoys being part of a diligent and creatively driven team that is involved and passionate to work in film. When not working in the office, Debra is an illustrator, specializing in character design and story telling.

SAMANTHA LONEY - RESEARCHER   Samantha Loney is a writer from Ontario, who has written for multiple online publications and short films. Both a graduate of the Humber College Comedy Writing and Performance Program as well as the Vancouver Film School, Samantha loves to write poignant comedies that make you think. One of Samantha's favourite stage of writing is the research, which makes her fit in perfectly at the Research House.

Samantha Loney is a writer from Ontario, who has written for multiple online publications and short films. Both a graduate of the Humber College Comedy Writing and Performance Program as well as the Vancouver Film School, Samantha loves to write poignant comedies that make you think. One of Samantha's favourite stage of writing is the research, which makes her fit in perfectly at the Research House.

MONTSE CAMARA - ADMIN TEAM AND ACCOUNTS   Originally from Mexico City, Montse moved to Vancouver to follow her passion for film. She graduated from Capilano University's Costume for Stage and Screen program. Montse started her career working in the wardrobe department and is currently an Iatse 891 permittee. Although new to the research and clearance world Montse's experience, creativity, and determination drove her to The Research house, where she has learned and expanded her knowledge and passion for film. Montse appreciates the daily challenges and steep learning curves that every different project brings.

CARLEY AGGROMITO - ADMIN TEAM AND SOCIAL MEDIA   Originally from Melbourne Australia, Carley moved to Vancouver to follow her dream working in Film and TV. Carley graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelors of Arts (Creative Writing) and a Diploma in Professional Screenwriting. She's had a passion and love for film since she was a little girl, playing dress ups with her Mum's clothes and performing scenes from her favorite movies. Carley is new to the world of research and clearances, but she is thoroughly enjoying her time here and learning so much along the way. Being surrounded by scripts on the daily is heaven to her.
